This award provides a general understanding of the role of the Radiologic Technologist. It provides basic information and an overview of the historical development of radiography, basic radiation protection, and introduction to medical terminology, ethical and legal issues for healthcare professionals, an orientation to the profession and to the health care systems, patient assessment, infection control procedures, emergency and safety procedures, communication, patient interaction skills, and basic pharmacology. This course of study will also include and introduction to radiographic positioning terminology, manipulation of equipment, positioning and alignment of the anatomic structure and equipment, and evaluation of images for demonstration of basic anatomy. This course of study would also meet the requirements for a Radiology Technology Aide.
